Glossybox UK October 2016 ‘Estée Lalonde Edition’

Hi there, remember me? It’s been a pretty long time without any blog posts on Just My Look, and for that I apologise. I kinda got stuck in a blogging rut, then I went away for a fortnight to London and Las Vegas, so this little space of the internet remained unloved for about a month. However, I’m now back and have plenty of posts planned, so expect things to get a bit livelier around here from now on! Anyways, on to one of my favourite things to talk about: Glossybox!

This month’s edition was a collaboration with blogger and YouTuber Estée Lalonde. Estée is a hugely successful Canadian beauty and lifestyle blogger, who is based in the UK. I have followed her from her Essie Button days, when she was one of my favourite beauty gurus. Now, I’m not gonna lie, she’s kinda slipped down my list of favourites since she left her Essie Button persona behind and became all grown up as Estée. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, everyone grows up, but I do feel that she has gone on a fairly ‘too cool for school’ hipster kinda path, which doesn’t always interest me, but I do still watch her videos from time to time. Anyway, when I heard that this month’s box was a collaboration with Estée, I was looking forward to discovering some great brands and products that Estée herself loves, but well… something didn’t feel quite right, let’s dig in shall we?

Ok, so the most intriguing product was the one billed as the *mystery sixth item* which is supposed to be a new hair hero. Now, I’ve yet to try this out, as I only arrived home from holiday last night to the box waiting for me, but I’m really excited to give it a whirl. On first impressions, it smells divine, and I’ve been trying to guess what brand it could possibly be. My only idea so far is that it may be a Head & Shoulders shampoo, as the bottle design is similar to their usual style, and it’s made by Proctor and Gamble, their parent company. Also, in the information leaflet this is described as being ‘unbeatable at caring for the scalp’ which is another clue that points towards Head & Shoulders. Either way, I’m gonna give it a go tomorrow and hope it works out well. Estée herself will be announcing the true identity of the product next week, so I don’t have long to wait!

Next up, is the Bee Good Honey & Camelina Facial Exfoliator. We’ve had products from this brand in Glossybox before, the products are made by British bees, and the formula is free from parabens, synthetic colours, mineral oil, silicone, SLS or SLES. So it sounds all good for sensitive skin types eh? Again, I’ve not tried this out, only on the back of my hand, but the formula seems to have just the right amount of scrubby particles, and a gorgeous natural fragrance. My skin is a bit all over the place from all my recent travelling, so I’m dying to try this out!

Sticking with skin care, next up, I received the Drops of Youth Concentrate from The Body Shop. Now, I saw this and I was a bit like, oh whatever. We had a similar sample from The Body Shop a couple of months ago, and its a bit annoying to have another little vial of serum with the words ‘free sample’ on the back popped into my box, when other subscribers got pretty decent Rituals and Nuxe products instead. Anyway, this feels like a nice lightweight serum that I should get some use from, but I’m not overly fussed on anti-ageing products, and I’m disappointed I didn’t get one of the better options instead. Oh well, that’s the name of the game I guess.

On to makeup, and the first item was the Secret Flush Soothing Cream Blusher & Lip Stain Duo in the shade Nectar, from Universal Beauty Cosmetics. This is a nice dinky little product in really cute packaging, and it’s a really nice pinky peach shade with a subtle hint of shimmer, that could be seen as a dupe for the infamous Orgasm multiple from NARS. I really like cream cheek products, but I don’t think I’d use this on my lips really. Also, cream products are something I get more use from in the summer, when I’m going for a lighter and more dewy look, so I would’ve loved to have received this a couple of months back. I’ve noticed that it is a bit heavily scented, which I don’t think will work for those subscribers with particularly sensitive skin. I shall give this a go, and report back.

Next up is the Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait, it doesn’t have a shade name. Anyway, how beautiful is that packaging. I saw it and I was like oh em effing gee I love that, how cool will it be when I whip it out of my handbag and show it off to all my beauty loving friends. Then I popped the lid off, and saw the shade and my heart just sank a little. At first it looks like a lovely pretty nude shade, but upon application to the lips it just looked as if I’d dipped my mouth in foundation. Not a good look for me. It’s very pale for my skin type, but the formula is nice and smooth and it feels very comfortable on the lips. I’m hoping that maybe I can salvage it with the help of a decent lip liner or lip gloss, but I’m not sure. If only the shade had been better, I’d have been completely head over heels.

Finally, the last addition was the PS…Pro Graphic Eyeliner. Yup, Glossybox have gone and done it, they’ve included a Primark item in their box. Now, I think there may have been quite a lot of negativity online regarding the inclusion of such an affordable brand, but hey, you guys know I adore Primark, so I was happy enough with the inclusion of one of their beauty products. There were 6 different items from PS…Pro sent out, and truthfully, I wish I’d received the primer or translucent powder that I’ve seen other customers got instead. However, felt tip eyeliners are something I use (and already have an abundance of unfortunately) so I will give this a bash. The only thing scaring me slightly is the nib. I mean seriously, look at how fat that is, I’m scared I’ll be totally panda eyed if I attempt to line my lids with this! I’ve swatched it a couple of times and I must say, it’s pretty decently pigmented, and lasts really long on the skin (I’m talking several hand washes with soap and this stuff was still there- which may be a problem trying to remove it from your eyes at the end of the day!) I would welcome more additions from Primark in my box, for me Glossybox is all about beauty discovery, and it’s nice to receive a mixture of high-end and high street products.

Swatches L-R: PS…Pro Eyeliner, Universal Beauty Blusher, Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait.

So, that’s the lot! Was I impressed with this month’s edition? Well yeah….ish. For me, it was a decent balance of hair care, skin care and makeup, but I was disappointed I got a teeny sample from The Body Shop instead of other options. However, something that really struck a chord with me was the whole ‘Estée Lalonde collaboration.’ This isn’t the first time Glossybox have teamed up with a blogger, most notably the Really Ree edition last December was fantastic. What I liked about the Really Ree box was that I felt Ree herself had trialled and enjoyed the products, she also did a lot of social media chat, blog posts and YouTube videos about the Glossybox at the time of release, which was great. This time around, well I don’t want to sound horrible, but the Estée collaboration just feels like its been thrown together just to promote her book. These products don’t feel like the type of items that she chats about on her blog or channel, and even the piece on the information card seems like it’s just been typed up to promote her book. Apart from an Instagram post, I haven’t seen anything else from Estée promoting this Glossybox, she has yet to blog or do a video on it? I dunno, maybe I’m being overly cynical, but it feels like she’s just added her name to this, whereas when Really Ree was an ambassador, she seemed alot more enthusiastic about it. But, maybe I’m wrong, it just doesn’t feel like anything special to me.

Anyway, I don’t wanna sound overly negative, I am looking forward to trialling out every product within this Glossybox, and I will most definitely be keeping up my subscription, I love getting my box of goodies in the post every month!

Glossybox UK September 2016 ‘Red Magazine: The Editor’s Choice’

It’s that time again- Glossybox time! After a bit of a mixed bag last month, I was looking forward to this month’s edit, especially since it was a special edition collaboration with Red Magazine. So when it popped through my letterbox yesterday, I just couldn’t wait to see what was inside, and unwrapped it at the speed of light.

So here are the contents, a fairly jam-packed box, I think you’ll agree! There is a really good mixture of skin care and makeup items, including 4 full-sized products. Now for a closer inspection of each of the items…

First up is the MUA Eyeshadow Palette in the ‘Heaven & Earth’ edition. Now technically this isn’t even part of this month’s box, as you may remember from last month– I was sent the wrong palette in my August box, so this month I received an extra palette; the one I’d initially chosen. It’s a really nice mixture of neutral bronzey colours which are right up my street. I’m dying to get to grips with this one, I think I can create some really nice natural looks with this palette! This is valued at €6.

So now for the real contents of this month’s box…

First up is the Vitamasques Hydro Face Mask. This is a formula inspired by Korean technology, and promises 120 hours of hydration after one use, as it promotes moisture retention to the skin. Now, I’ve tried sheet masks from previous Glossyboxes in the past and not been overly keen on them. I think this is some form of gel formula which has a somewhat similar application style to a sheet mask, as it says it should be left on for 30 mins, so I’ll keep an open mind on this one, but I’m not sure how I feel about it yet! This sachet is valued at around €9.

Next up, an item that we were given a sneak peek of last month, the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I’ve had this mascara in the past and LOVED it, so I know I’m gonna get some use from this miniature sized tube. Now, the name is a bit ridiculous, and it has a lot of bold claims, but I have to say it is an amazing formula that gives gorgeous, volumised, dramatic, long lashes. This is a definite hit for me, I hope to see more items from Too Faced included in the future. This miniature size is valued at around €12.

The next addition is from The Organic Pharmacy, and their Antioxidant Lip Balm. Now, I will admit that lip balm is a tad boring to me, but this is actually a really nice product. Firstly, I love the squeezy tube packaging, I really don’t like gross dipping pots for lip balm, so straight away this is a bonus. It lives up to its claim of being a ‘soft and smooth’ formula, it’s a thick, clear balm that applies easily to the lips and feels hydrating, as well as having a nice fruity taste to it! This is another item that I’m pretty pleased with this month. This is valued at €14.

Sticking with lips, next comes the Catrice Volumising Lip Booster. Now, I’ve been using Catrice products for years, so I was thrilled to receive an item that I haven’t tried before. This lip booster is supposedly the secret to a plumper pout. It has a cooling menthol formulation that feels fresh on the lips, and not overly tingly like other similar products I’ve tried in the past. This is a lovely sheer pink shade, and it gives a gorgeous plump look to the lips. I’ve only tried it on its own so far, but I think it will be great worn over lipstick too, as it’s a smooth, non sticky formula. Hopefully we get more Catrice products in future boxes. This is valued at €3.95.

The final full-sized item included is the Rodial Smokey Eye Pen. This is essentially, a black eyeliner pencil, something that is somewhat unexciting for beauty junkies like myself that have about 20 black liners in our stashes already! However, it looks like a really nice creamy, dark black formula, which I’m hoping will be easy to apply, and long-lasting on the waterline! I’ll report back as soon as I try it out. This is valued at €20.

Finally, Glossybox popped in a nice little bonus item in the form of the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask from The Body Shop. There isn’t much information on the leaflet, but I’m assuming this is great for getting the gunk out of your skin, as charcoal is usually in deep cleansing masks. I can’t wait to try this out, I love how Glossybox have popped in some sample sachets as a ‘6th item’ recently, as it is a nice bonus for subscribers. Lets face it, if it were Birchbox, this would probably be counted as a full item… Just Sayin’

So overall, I was pretty pleased with this month’s box. Taking the MUA palette out of the equation (as technically that was from the August edit) it was a pretty decent box, with a nice mixture of skin care and makeup items, all of which I’ll get a lot of use from.

What I Got For My Birthday 2016!

Last weekend, I turned 29. TWENTY NINE. That’s almost 30. How frightening? Anyway, I had a lovely day spent with family, where I enjoyed two birthday cakes (how amazing is the one in the photo above? My sister made it herself, seriously impressive!) along with a roast dinner, and several glasses of wine. Such a perfect day! I was very kindly gifted some really nice presents from my family and boyfriend, and I don’t think I need to add any disclaimers here, if you’re reading this post, you’re most likely a nosey git like myself- I love to read these kind of posts, so I thought I’d share my birthday gifts with you guys!

First up, I really wanted the Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.20 fragrance, so my boyfriend very kindly got it for me.  Apart from the cute pink packaging, this has a gorgeous sandalwood and rose scent, making it the perfect feminine fragrance. I’ve only worn it twice so far, but it is a really long-lasting scent, which is fantastic. I’m so pleased to add this to my fragrance collection!

As Matthew picked up my perfume in Boots, alongside came a free gift as he’d spent a certain amount. Inside The Head To Toe Collection, is the Botanical Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, along with the Orange Flower Body Wash, all of which are full-sized items. This is a really nice bonus set, I’ve used the Liz Earle Shampoo and Conditioners before, and had really good results with them, and the body wash smells divine. I’m really pleased with this kit!

This offer is still running with Liz Earle in Boots, when you spend €55/£40 on Liz Earle products in store or online, you receive the Head To Toe Collection absolutely free!

As I was unsure what exactly I wanted as a birthday present from my boyfriend, he very kindly took me into town so I could put his credit card to good use and pick up a few bits, so here is what I chose!

Firstly, I chose this black and white Adidas tee. I love all the Adidas Originals clothing, and I think this tee will be great paired with jeans and trainers for a casual look. It’s a nice loose fitting t-shirt, that is a really good length, so it would cover your bottom when wearing leggings (cos everyone knows a short tee with leggings is a massive no-no) Although it was a bit pricey for a tshirt, it’s really good quality material and a cool classic style that I should get a lot of wear out of.

20160820_183931 (2).JPG

Next stop, Topshop, where I found this gorgeous skirt. I’d had my eye on it during the summer, but thought it was a tad overpriced, so when I spotted it on the sale rail in my size, I knew I had to have it. I love the gorgeous colours, it’s a really nice embroidered design, which is perfect for both summer and autumn wear. It’s a great length, not too short and not too long, just right as Goldilocks would say. It’s made from pretty heavy material, and feels really great quality. I think I’ll wear this with a black cami and heels, and plan on taking it to Las Vegas when I visit in October, as I think it’ll be a great piece to dress up, or wearwith flats for a more casual look either.

This dress was a bugger to photograph due to the pattern and material (seriously when I hung it up it just looked like a crumpled piece of cloth!) so I have to apologise for the rubbish photos! As soon as I spotted this dress in Topshop I knew I had to have it. I love the all over lace detail with the scalloped hem, and the crossover straps are a really nice addition. It’s a pretty good length, but if you’re contemplating buying it- be warned, it is fairly fitted so a washboard stomach or a decent pair of spanx is essential with this.

You can buy this dress here (and see some much better photos than my dodgy ones!)

I also got The Jungle Book on DVD. You guys know I raved about it when I saw it in the cinema a couple of months ago, so I knew I had to add it to my rather extensive Disney DVD collection. I can’t wait to have a night in with a bucket of popcorn to watch this!

Next stop, Penneys (the Irish name for Primark) where I found this cool coin necklace. You may remember that I’ve had a similar one from River Island before (well three of them actually) so when I spotted a more affordable version in Penneys, I had to have it. I love to wear this type of chain with both casual and dressy looks, I think it goes well with so many outfits!

Next up, I chose these trainers. I liked how they were kinda inspired by the Yeezy style, without the price tag! They’re so comfy to wear, and they look really nice with leggings, sweats or jeans. I did have to buy a size smaller though, as they’re sized larger than usual for Primark shoes. I’m really pleased with these, now I’m gonna have to go back and pick up a grey pair!

Finally on my shopping spree, I chose these Cocoa Brown brushes. They’re specifically designed for ‘tonturing’ which has something got to do with contouring your body with fake tan, but hey, I ain’t got time for that. I had seen Marissa Carter (Cocoa Brown creator) on Snapchat using these brushes to apply the Golden Goddess Oil to her legs, and thought they looked great for that use. I have yet to try them out, but I reckon these brushes could have a ton of uses. As always, I’ll report back once I give them a whirl.

This was another one that was a bit of a bugger to photograph. You may remember I was lusting after this khaki bomber jacket, well my sister picked up on my hints, and got it for me for my birthday. I was ecstatic when I unwrapped it, as I think it’ll be perfect for Autumn/Winter wear. I plan on teaming it with a white tee, black skinny jeans and trainers for a casual look. Love love love it!

My other little sis picked me up these two gorgeous swimsuits from Marks and Spencer. Again, I’d been dropping not so subtle hints to everyone about how much I wanted the hot pink one-piece for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas to wear to the pool parties, as I thought it was simple, yet glam. Then she also very kindly picked me up this lovely black and white number too, which I’m saving for a hotel break in September. Both swimsuits are really flattering, as they have a slight ruched effect at the tummy, so they look really good on, even when I’m having an attack of the pre menstrual and I indulged in too much bread and pasta bloatedness. Perfect.

I also received these lovely gifts of a nice bottle of Cava from my uncle, and a gorgeous scented candle from my auntie, I love the black and gold design and the gorgeous vanilla fragrance! My lovely other auntie also gifted me a card filled with lottery tickets (such a staple gift in Ireland!) My colleagues in work all clubbed together to get me a voucher for our nearest shopping centre, The Pavilions in Swords. Seeing as there are some great shops like Penneys, Zara, River Island and H&M there, I don’t think it will be too long before I’ve spent it (and the rest, eh?)

Finally, another item from my recent wishlist (see how I’m good at dropping hints?) My parents got me The Luxe Life by Fleur De Force. I really love Fleur’s blog and videos, and her last book was amazing, so I was delighted to get this, I can’t wait to get stuck into it already! My mam and dad also very kindly gifted me with some dollars, for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas.

So that’s the lot! I was extremely spoiled, and I know I’m a very lucky girl to have such great friends and family. I had a great weekend, with meals out and family fun, it definitely softened the blow of entering the last year of my twenties!

Glossybox UK August 2016 ‘Rae Feather’ 5th Birthday Edition!

It’s that time of the month again, Glossybox time! This month is the brand’s 5th Birthday, and to celebrate, they have teamed up with luxe accessory label Rae Feather, for a box filled with 5 ‘glossy greats’ (their words, not exactly mine as you’ll see) including an exclusive item from the Rae Feather brand. Can this month’s edit live up to the amazing contents of the June & July boxes? Well, read on to find out…..

It is a change from the usual pink and black Glossybox this month, with a nice pink, grey and white design from Rae Feather. It’s always nice to have a bit of a change, and while it’s not my favourite ever designed box (the French edit was a particular favourite design) it is pretty nice, love a bitta grey and pink I do!

So here we have the contents! As usual, there are 5 items, this month there is a good mixture of makeup, skincare, bodycare and accessories. It’s also a bit of a mixed bag for sizes this month, with 2 full-sized items, 2 sample sizes and the random addition of a little tote bag. Let’s take a closer look at all five items….

The first item is one that we had a sneak peek of; the MUA Eyeshadow Palette with mine coming the ‘Hall of Fame’ version. Now, firstly, subscribers were given the choice between four palettes at the start of July, and this was not the one I chose. So I was a tad disappointed when I saw that I had been sent a different version, however Glossybox have sent me an email to let me know they are aware that there was an error, and that they will send me the palette which I had originally chosen in my September box, which is pretty good. In their words, they are ‘turning one problem, into two palettes’ which I’m happy enough with!

The palette is composed of 12 shades, which are supposedly MUA’s favourite shades from all of the existing popular palettes. I do agree that it is a pretty nice selection, and one that I should get quite a lot of use from. I haven’t tried it out yet, but we previously received an MUA palette back in the November box, and the shades were all highly pigmented and long wearing, so here’s hoping this one will be the same! So I’m pretty pleased with this inclusion, but as this is now the second MUA eyeshadow palette we’ve received within 10 months, I’m happy enough to end it there, and explore other products from the brand instead. This is valued at around €5 or €6, which is a great price for the quality!

Next up, is the Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion in a 30ml sample size. Now, I hate to say it but this inclusion is so reminiscent of Birchbox for me, that I was a bit disappointed with it. It’s hard to get in any way excited over a tiny tube of body lotion…. What I can say is, it smells absolutely gorgeous, down to the inclusion of essential oils of lemongrass, ginger and rosemary in the formulation, and it’s a nice lightweight lotion that absorbs quickly into the skin, without leaving a heavy greasy residue. I do think that because the packaging is quite hard plastic, it will be pretty difficult to dispense the product once you start using it. Honestly though, it’s just a bit meh. A full-sized bottle of this is a rather whopping 300ml which retails for €25, so this little dinky tube isn’t valued too highly at all at about €2.50!

The next inclusion was another miniature item, in the form of the Mudmasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask. This is billed as an ‘almighty mask, formulated with all natural ingredients, is paraben free and claims to thoroughly detoxify skin, as it is a ph-balanced facial treatment that refines and tightens pores, hydrates, brightens and smooths skin’ so basically it promises to be an amazing all-rounder. If this lives up to all its claims, I will have pretty flawless skin eh? I am looking forward to trying this out, I love a pampering night with a decent face mask. The full size of this is a rather spendy €69 for 60ml, so this 20ml size is valued at around €23. Wowza.

Next up, is another skincare item and this one is full-sized. The Spa To You Deep Pore Cleansing Brush is made up of a combination of bristles and silicone cushions to help massage the skin to improve micro circulation for renewed radiance. We had previously received another Spa To You product back in June with the Konjac Sponge which I loved, so I was intrigued to try this one out!

First impressions aren’t too great though. I used it in the shower this evening and found it a bit difficult to work with. I’m used to using the Clarisonic so I had used some deep cleansing bristles on my face before, but this one felt pretty stiff and scratchy on my skin. Now, I’m not sure what kind of cleanser would work best with it, but I used a balm cleanser and it didn’t seem to do much with it at all, I ended up just rinsing it off with my hands in the end. I’m gonna try it out again tomorrow with a foaming cleanser instead, as I think that might be a better combination. This is a full-sized product valued at €8.

Finally,  a bit of a random inclusion, was this little Rae Feather Mini Monogram Pochette. So eh, basically a little linen makeup bag. Yup. There’s not much I can say about this, I’m not too keen on the style, the beige colour with the plastic GB design is ok I guess, but I reckon that it will be manky dirty pretty quickly if it’s kept within your handbag, and I’m sure it will have makeup stains on it in no time. The interior is made of a water-resistant material, which is great, but I just think this whole addition is rather unexciting. I mean, its a fairly bland looking bag, but maybe it’s just not my style? I’m pretty sure most Glossybox subscribers are makeup enthusiasts like myself, and have more than enough makeup bags and cases in their collection. Also, this is supposedly valued at an altogether rather extortionate €23, which I just find rather unbelievable. I will probably get a bit of use from it, don’t get me wrong, but I’d just have preferred another product instead.

So that’s the lot! I found this month’s edit to be a rather mixed bag. I was pleased with the eyeshadow palette, and the face brush is something different than usual and a nice discovery for most subscribers. The face mask is a nice little addition too I guess, but the pouch and body lotion didn’t really light my fire. I loved the June edit, and the July box was by far the best I’ve received in almost 2 years of being subscribed to Glossybox, so this one was a bit of a let down in comparison.

Next month’s box contains a mini mascara from Too Faced, the Better Than Sex mascara is one of my all time favourites, it’s a seriously amazing product, so I’m pretty excited to have one in my stash again! I’ve never tried the waterproof version, so I would be happy to receive either type in my box. It would be great to see some more well-known high-end brands like Too Faced included in some future boxes.

So, what did you think of this month’s Glossybox? Did you get anything different in yours? Let me know in the comments below!

If you’re interested in signing up to Glossybox it costs £10/€14 monthly plus P&P, and they are doing a great offer at the moment where you can get a free bonus bag of beauty goodies alongside your first box by using the code AUGGIFTUK at the checkout when you sign up here.

Yankee Candle ‘Soft Blanket’ Review :)

I’m a candle addict, I always have a couple burning in my house, I love filling each room with a different scent. On a recent candle shopping spree, I popped the Yankee Candle Soft Blanket (in the small jar size) into my basket as I was looking for a nice light scent to burn in my living room. That is exactly what this is, it’s not heavy or overpowering at all, its a nice light, subtle, clean scent that just makes you feel relaxed and comfortable when it is burning. To me, it reminds me of the Yankee Candle in Fluffy Towels, mixed with a hint of baby powder for added softness. Its a really nice warm and comforting scent to have burning in the home. Also, how cute is the little teddy bear image that they’ve used on the jar? It’s the perfect image to pair with the scent, as it is such a nice relaxing fragrance that would be great for use in a bedroom to keep you feeling cosy. I’d definitely recommend this for anyone who likes a subtle scent in their home, and it would make a great gift for anyone too!

You’ll find this candle in the usual Yankee Stockists, the small jar will set you back around €10!

What is your favourite Yankee Candle? Let me know in the comments below!

An Embarrassingly Large Makeup Haul! Featuring Becca x Jaclyn Hill, MAC, Wet n Wild, L’Oreal and tons more :)

makeupp collage.jpgYou know the drill, I’m quite partial to a spending spree. It had been a little while since I’d bought some new makeup, and I had my eye on quite a few bits lately, so I went a little wild and bought a ton of new bits and pieces. I actually feel a tad embarrassed to share this ridiculously epic haul… but let’s go ahead anyway….

First up, is the Floramar Double Radiance Primer Highlighter. I’d seen tons of bloggers rave about this online, so when I spotted it in my local pharmacy I had to grab it. It’s a gorgeous radiance boosting liquid highlight that can be used either as a primer before applying makeup, or mixed in with foundation to give a gorgeous golden glow. I’ve used this a couple of times so far, and I’m really impressed! If you’d like to see a full review, let me know in the comments below. I *think* this was around the €12 mark.

Sticking with the golden glow theme, I picked up the Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil, after yet again being swayed by tons of other bloggers’ hype. I’ve used this a couple of times already, applying it to my legs and collarbone for a gorgeous subtle shimmer over the skin. It looks amazing! It’s the perfect partner for some fake tan, and can also be used on the cheekbones as a nice highlight too! I found this in Penneys for €9, which is a few quid cheaper than in some pharmacies, FYI.

I mentioned in my last Birchbox post, that I’d spent my points on a few bits in the Birchbox online store, and after what seemed like an age, they finally arrived! First up was the Hot Mama Blush Powder from The Balm. This is such a pretty peachy pink blush, that has a slight shimmer effect within. It suits my skin tone really well and warms the cheeks perfectly with the perfect amount of a glow! And seriously, how fabulous is the packaging? It’s a really nice slim compact with a decent mirror, which is great for travel, although the cardboard packaging may not stand the test of time if left in a handbag! This was £12.50.

In previous Birchboxes I received a Spectrum brush and also a Spectrum sponge, and I was seriously impressed, so I couldn’t think of anything better to spend my points on than more Spectrum tools! I love the pink handle and the gorgeous blue bristles, it’s such a funky design. I chose the Angled Brow Brush and Tulip Eye Contour Brush. I’ve used the brow brush with my Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade and it worked really well, which I’m pleased with. The Tulip Eye Contour Brush is rather massive, so I haven’t gotten around to trying it in the crease when applying eyeshadow just yet, but I think it may also work well with concealer. I’ll try it out and report back! The brow brush was £4, and the eye contour brush was £4.99.

Finally from my Birchbox order, is this LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in the shade Perfect Cents. I’ve previously raved about another shade I’ve had from the brand, so I had to pick up another one. I love the copper style shade of this, and how easy to apply and blend on the lid it is. I’m sure to get a lot of use from this. This was £8.

Next up, I didn’t actually buy these bits, I actually won a little bunch of goodies from Wet n Wild from their Instagram page! They were all part of a Limited Edition Geometric Collection.

I got these 3 pastel shades of nail polish, and I think they’re really cute for summer time. The shades are (from left to right) Lay Out In Lavender, Love Fest and Kiss My Mints. I’ve never tried any nail polishes from Wet n Wild before, so I’m looking forward to giving them a whirl.

Next up came a couple of eyeshadow trios. Now, I will admit that these are not the kind of shades I’d usually wear, I’m more of a neutral kinda gal, but there are some cute colours in here that I could depot into my Z Palette and work into some other eyeshadow looks. One thing I do know is, that despite the really affordable price, Wet n Wild eyeshadows are usually fantastic quality!

The final items were these Geometric Highlighting Powders, in both a pink shade and a bronze shade. Again, I have yet to try these out, but I’m looking forward to giving them a whirl! Has anyone else tried these or anything similar from Wet n Wild? Let me know in the comments below!

Sticking with competition wins, my sister won a gigantic bundle of Bourjois goodies, and kindly gave me some of the Rouge Edition lip products! I’m not always confident in wearing bright and bold lip looks, but I’m determined to incorporate them into my makeup routine more often! I can’t comment yet on the formula or longevity of the product, but I’ll be sure to report back when I put them to the test. The shades I have as swatched above (left to right) are Rouge Edition Soufflé 06 Cherry Leaders, Rouge Edition Velvet 05 Olé Flamingo and Rouge Edition Velvet 03 Hot Pepper.

Next up was an unintentional purchase. I was in Boots waiting to collect a prescription, and I spotted a ton of boxes on the clearance stand. There were lots of L’Oreal sets on offer, and I couldn’t resist picking this one up (despite knowing I didn’t need it!) It was such great value, with 4 full-sized items, including a gorgeous eyeshadow quad, a blusher, a mascara and a pinky nude lipstick all for the great price of €20. I’m currently trialling out all these bits and bobs, and will have a review of all the items on the blog soon!

These goodies from MAC are my favourite part of the haul. Again, I didn’t buy these, my boyfriend kindly picked this Look In A Box set while travelling, and I was so pleased with it. I won’t go into too much detail here, as again, I have a blog post in the works, with in-depth reviews and swatches on all the contents. I will say, most of the items are full-sized, and are amazing quality. If you’re travelling through Duty Free any time soon, I’d highly recommend you check out these kits, because they are simply fantastic.

My final purchase is the much hyped Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Palette. How gorgeous is the packaging? There are 3 blushers, and 2 highlighters; one being the super famous Champagne Pop and the other is the exclusive Prosecco Pop. Now, I’m ashamed to say this cost me an absolute fortune and I’ve barely used it since I got it about 6 weeks ago… I just keep forgetting to use it. Shameful. But I plan on getting to grips with it a bit better, and you know the score at this stage…I’ll report back with my findings. I ordered it from Space NK and they also popped in some little samples. I’m particularly excited to try the Becca Backlight Priming Filter.

Ok, that’s the lot! Congratulations if you made it to the end of this very long-winded post! I feel a bit mortified realising I’ve bought so much new stuff lately!

Payday Wishlist! Fashion, Books & Accesories :)

Long time, no blog, eh? Apologies for the lack of posts on here lately, after being off work for so long, I’ve found returning to the regular 9-5 routine rather difficult and draining, along with being very busy and travelling a bit, blogging has sort of taken a back seat. However, my lust for spending sprees has not waned in the slightest…. here is a quick round up of some of the latest bits that I’m coveting.

First up is this gorgeous khaki bomber from River Island. At €60, it’s a tad pricey compared to what I usually spend on single items of clothing, but oh my god I love it. I think it would be so nice over a white tee and black skinny jeans with trainers. If I get it, I think it’ll be a staple piece in my Autumn/Winter wardrobe.

Next up, also from River Island are these amazing Rose Gold Strappy Sandals. At €55, I think that’s a reasonable enough price for a pair of gorgeous heels, but I’m almost certain that they would be cripplingly painful on my feet. However, I still want them, cos I love anything rose gold!

Next up, is such a blogger cliché, a Cinema Lightbox! I just think they’re so cool, and I’d love one for the shelf in my living room to display nice little personal messages on. Yes, at €40 from My Shining Armour, they are a tad expensive, but I think it is so worth it!

On to books, there are three on my list at the moment. First up, is Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, which is the official script book of the west end play, and I’m really intrigued to give it a read and see what it’s all about! Also on the list are books from  of my favourite YouTubers, Tanya Bakes by Tanya Burr and The Luxe Life by Fleur De Force. I’ve read Tanya’s first book, and one of my favourite bits was the baking section, so I’d love to see what other recipes Tanya has up her sleeve. I also love Fleur, her style and makeup, so I’d love to read her second book as her first book, The Glam Guide was a great read!

Anyways, that’s the lot! I know, I don’t need any of the above items, but what can I say, I just always want things…. It’s a problem I have!!
