Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Review

An alternative title for this post also could have been ‘My Holy Grail Cleanser’  Yup, a pretty big statement but seriously, this stuff is Amazing- with a capital A. My skin and I have a complicated relationship to say the least, I would describe it as combination- I have dry cheeks, I’m prone to oiliness on my forehead, nose and chin, hormonal breakouts along the jawline and sure throw in a bit of redness for good measure. Yup, I’ve got it all. In the past I’ve tried a myriad of cleansers, none of which made any noticeable improvement to my skin, more than a few of them caused me to break out like nobodys business, or dried out my skin so bad that massive flakes fell off any time I touched my face-imagine rubbing your cheek to notice a flurry of snowflakes falling slowly onto your desk….gross or what?

I discovered Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish after reading a blog review on it about 5 years ago. It was being hailed as a wonder product, and due to very limited availability in Ireland at the time, I was hesitant to buy online without checking it out in real life first. Luckily, I bit the bullet and haven’t looked back since.

It is a gorgeous creamy cleanser, which you apply to dry skin, 1 pump is enough to cover the entire face (so a 100ml bottle will last 6-8 weeks if I’m using it once daily). The eucalyptus essential oil scent is amazing, so soothing and calming when I’m using at the end of a long day. Once I’ve slathered it all over my face, I wet the accompanying muslin cloth in hot water and use it to gently polish off the cleanser, which removes grime and gently exfoliates the skin. It removes makeup excellently, even waterproof mascara, and the muslin cloth is soft, not scratchy like some others that I’ve tried.

In the past I’ve leaned towards products for oily and acne prone skin, but my dry cheeks always suffered. Its great to finally find a cleanser that ‘one size fits all’ skin types. This cleanser has not only prevented my skin from drying out, but also balanced my oily areas and kept breakouts to a minimum. It really does deserve the cult status, and the 100+ awards it has received to date. I also have to mention the beautiful green packaging and the pump dispenser, which pumps out the perfect amount and also means no wasteage and no more slicing open the tube to scoop out the last dregs of product. Although even if they repackaged it, nothing could deter me from this wonder product. I’ve converted my mam, sister, friends and even my dad and boyfriend to this cleanser, so if you’re in the market for a new cleanser, I definitely recommend giving it a try. You can buy Liz Earle products from-, selected boots stores (Liffey Valley & Blanchardstown), and Wilde & Green in Milltown. You can check out my post on another Liz Earle product here.
