Hitting Pan #2- The Almost Empties

Last month I did a post on hitting pan on some of my most loved products, and here we are again with more of the same! I usually post about hauls, and new finds, forgetting about my holy grail or staple items. So this is the place where I can declare my love for some of my most used items.

Soap & Glory ‘One Heck of a Blot’ Mattifying Powder-

This stuff really is the bees knees. It’s a translucent mattifying powder that suits my combination/oily skin down to the ground. It’s so finely milled that it applies almost invisibly, and I can reapply again and again all over my shiny mush throughout the day without it looking cakey at all. It doesn’t settle into pores or fine lines, and although its amazing at getting rid of shine and mattifying the skin, it also leaves a natural fresh glowy appearance, which I love. I’m mad about the packaging, a plastic compact with a mirror is everything that I wanted the Rimmel Stay Matte to be like! Although this is a good bit pricier than the Rimmel offering, at €15 from Boots it’s a tad spendy, but the 9 grams of product will last for a long time, so definitely worth a try!

Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick in No. 24 ‘Rose

Now I have a lot of lipsticks, so it’s a major achievement for me to (almost) finish one up. This is a gorgeously smooth and highly pigmented lippie that just ticks all the boxes for me. It’s a beautiful rose shade, that goes on smoothly and packs a good punch of colour with one quick swipe across the lips. It has a balm like texture that is comfortable on the lips, and the formula means it remains glossy  for hours after application. As I type this I can’t for the life of me understand why I haven’t gone back to check out more shades in the collection, surely they must all be as amazing as this?! I need to take a trip to Boots to pick more of these up ASAP. At €10.99 for a high quality product like this, you’d be mad not to check them out!

Benefit Cosmetics ‘Hoola’ Bronzing Powder

You’d have to have been hiding behind a rock in the furthest corner of far east Timbuktu to not have tried this product. Frequently topping ‘Best Makeup’ lists, this bronzer completely lives up to its glowing reputation. It’s a matte powder that applies easily and gives a gorgeous natural glow to the skin, and also works well as a contour. On my fair skin it gives a lovely ‘sun-kissed’ look rather than an orange glow that many powders leave on the skin. Yes, it’s a bit pricey at €34 but I have to say this lasts FOREVER, I’ve had this particular one for years, so it’s a great investment item. My advice is to throw away the crappy brush that comes provided and use your own, and to watch the cardboard packaging in your handbag as it will get wrecked quickly, although these things can be a tad annoying, once you go Hoola, you’ll look beyond the minor gripes and never go for another bronzing powder again.
