I love me some budget beauty oh I do. Yes, like all beauty junkies I adore going into MAC or Brown Thomas and coming out with some high-end makeup treats, but it has to be said, there is no better feeling than discovering a holy grail product that comes straight from the aisles in Boots.
Everybody who loves makeup has something from Rimmel in their stash. And everyone knows that Rimmel do some great budget options. Usually when you’re at the stand, you’ll be drawn in to the Kate Moss lipsticks or some of their bright polishes, but next time you’re there, move your eye level down to somewhere near the middle/bottom of the stand, and pick up this bad boy. Yes, the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder is one of those products that everybody should have in their makeup bags. I use this primarily over foundation to set my makeup as I’m prone to oiliness, and boy does this keep things matte. I use the shade ‘transparent’ which goes onto the skin almost invisibly, and gives my makeup a matte look, but nowhere near as flat as other powders I’ve tried. It keeps my face shine free for hours upon hours, and even if a bit of oil breaks through, I just whip it out of my handbag and sweep it all over my skin and I’m fresh as a daisy. because I use the transparent shade, I can apply it while out and about without even using a mirror as it doesn’t add any extra colour to the face, nor does it build up heavily and cake upon the skin. As far as I know, it does come in 5 or 6 shades, if you do like adding some colour, or wearing powder alone, these could be right up your street. My only slight bugbear with this product is the packaging. I’d gladly shell out an extra few quid for this to come in a slightly more sturdy compact, as this light packaging means it could easily be smashed in your handbag if you carry it around daily. This is one that I constantly repurchase, as its a fail safe option for me.
At the bargain price of around €5, you really can’t afford to give this a miss. Its a great everyday powder, that will keep you fresh and shine free for hours on end. Just don’t blame me if you head into boots to buy this and come out armed with the whole Rimmel stand…. you have been warned!
