I’ve always loved reading blogger tag posts, I find it a great way of getting to know a blogger’s personality. I haven’t done any before, but I spotted this one on Bronagh’s Blog and thought I’d give it a go myself!
So here’s the questions and answers…
Do you remember your first makeup item?
It was mostly likely a lip gloss or nail polish that came free with a magazine when I was 12 or 13! I only started buying makeup when I was about 17 or 18, I remember Boots were selling off loads of Seventeen makeup, so I went and bought a foundation, powder, concealer and mascara from them, and that was all I used for a long time!
Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
I adore Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. Everything from the packaging, to the wand and the formula are amazing. It gives my lashes such an amazing dramatic look, which I love. The only gripe I have is that its so bloody difficult to remove!
What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?
I like a medium coverage, good enough to cover redness and blemishes, that will still look somewhat natural. I’m not a fan of very heavy mask like foundations.
Favourite high end brand?
I love Benefit Cosmetics, they all have such cute and quirky packaging, and are really good products. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever tried from Make Up For Ever too.
What cosmetics brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?
I’m dying to try Charlotte Tilbury makeup, but its fairly pricey, so I’m doing plenty of research online so I can decide what to try first!
Favourite drugstore brand?
I love everything I’ve ever tried from Bourjois, their foundations and lip products are fantastic. I love Soap & Glory makeup too.
Do you wear fake eyelashes?
No, they seem like too much of a faff for me, I’m afraid they’ll just start falling off as soon as I leave the house!
Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?
Nope. I don’t wear makeup to work, I tend to just wear it at weekends or when I’m going out somewhere in the evening. So I have no problem going out bare faced!
What is your most cherished beauty product?
I love my Michael Kors bronze powder, its so gorgeous, I think I’d cry if I ever lost or broke it!
How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick an item here and there or do you get lots of goodies all at once?
I pick up bits and bobs here and there all the time. I work quite close to a Boots store than I visit all too often and pick up all the new releases. I’m tryng to pull back on beauty spending at the moment though, its proving quite difficult!
Do you have a “beauty budget” or spend freely?
I definitely think long and hard before buying high-end items, usually doing a lot of online research before shelling out my hard-earned cash. However I probably spend more money just buying loads of high street items every time I visit Boots. I don’t have a budget so to speak, I often just cringe with guilt when I get to the checkout and the cashier says ‘that’ll be €57 please…’
What type of product do you buy the most of?
Blusher. I have about 60 in my collection, it’s a massive addiction, I can’t stop buying them!
Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?
Not really, I tend to be attracted by packaging or online reviews of a product rather than ingredients.
Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup?
I love Boots and Superdrug, but my all time favourite place has to be Sephora. I just wish it would come to Ireland!!
Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?
I tend to stick to the same skin care routine all the time, I really love Liz Earle products. At the moment I’m trying out some new bits from La Roche Posay, its early days, but I don’t think they’re working out as well as I’d hoped!
Favourite bath and body brand?
I’m obsessed by Soap & Glory! I love their shower gels, scrubs and body butters. They have some great fragrances too. I’d love if they came out with a scented candle range to match all their different scents.
Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?
I own a few products like that, but usually I only use them for cheeks and forget to try them on lips. They’re great for travel though!
Are you clumsy in putting makeup?
I’m not too bad. I do often tend to apply a tad too much blusher, or go a bit wonky with my eyeliner, but I think I’ve gotten a lot better after all the years of practice I’ve had.
Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?
I’d love to do a course in Make Up For Ever, but they’re kinda pricey which puts me off.
What do you love about makeup?
I love how it gives me a lot more confidence, it makes me feel like a slightly more polished version of myself when my blemishes are covered and my eyebrows are on fleek haha. I love experimenting with different styles and colours to suit my mood too.
