Its my favourite time of the month again- Glossybox time! This is definitely the box I’ve been most excited about since I started my subscription. The French theme massively appealed to me, as I love French lifestyle and especially love French skincare products, so I couldn’t wait for it to arrive!
When I unwrapped the outer packaging, I actually gasped at how fantastic the box looks. I’d seen spoilers online, but the attention to detail on this box is just out of this world. As you can see from my photos, the beautiful illustrations of Paris cover the entire box, and there’s some gorgeous pictures on the inside and underneath of the box. This is one that I’ll definitely keep to display on my shelf! Upon opening the box I loved how even the inside wrapping kept up the theme with red and white paper, a white bow and a little blue sticker. Another addition I was pleased with is the little glossy cards that came in the box. The contents card also displays the beautiful illustrations to match the theme, and there’s another information card all about the artist who designed it; Jamie Lee Reardin, with a gorgeous Vive la France picture on the back that I will most certainly stick on my notice board as it’s too cute to throw out! Anyway, enough about the box, let’s get into the contents shall we?
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that it all came housed in a cute little bag this month! Its beautifully designed featuring the same character on the actual box, and has plenty of room for a decent amount of products inside. My only gripe is that Glossybox included this as the 5th item, valuing it at £3.95. Now I personally think this could have been added as a little bonus item, so I was a tad disappointed that there was only 4 products inside it. Another slight issue is that it already has a few scratches and has burst a little bit from the other products sharp edges, so I’m pretty sure that it’s too flimsy to keep in your handbag as it wouldn’t last the test of time.
Once I opened the bag the first thing I pulled out was the Lollipops Lip Balm Delicieuse. Now like any other girl, I have a million lip balms, but I was excited by this one. It comes in such cute packaging and has a lovely light vanilla marshmallow style scent. I’ve tried it out and its soft and smooth on the lips. This one is going straight into my handbag, a definite winner. This is valued at €4.95 and it’s a full size item.
Next up I noticed the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Cream. I’ve tried a few Vichy products over the years and they’ve all been great. This one is aimed at normal to combination skin, so it should suit me. It has a lovely light fresh scent and the cream itself is as light as air and absorbed so quickly when I tried it on the skin. I’m glad it comes in a little glass jar as it makes the sample size a tiny bit more appealing to me, as I know Vichy is stocked in most chemists, and they’re always great at handing out samples, so with this one I was pleased, but at the same time I know I could pop to my local pharmacy and pick up some little sample tubes and try it out for free pretty easily. Still, a nice addition that I’ll definitely use. A full size jar will set you back €21.99 for a 50ml pot, meaning this sample is valued at around €6.50.
Sticking with the French skin care theme, next came the noxidoxi Enhancing Serum Base. This is a serum to be applied before moisturiser, which claims to hydrate the skin’s surface as well as the deeper layers, while a cocktail of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories protect the skin. While this is something that I probably wouldn’t necessarily buy myself, I’m looking forward to trying it out. What can I say- I’m a skincare junkie, and as someone with slightly problematic skin, I’ll give anything a go once! This is a decent 25ml size tube. Through some googling, I see that it is a miniature, as the full size seems a lot bigger, and comes with a foam applicator, but it doesn’t state on their website exactly what size it is. The full size retails for €39.90.
Finally, comes the Teoxane Cosmeceuticals Perfect Skin Refiner. Now this is an intriguing one to me. Initially unsure as to what it’s actually for, the description card told me that it has hyaluronic acid to plump & hydrate the skin, 10% glycolic acid to help resurface the skin, and calming ingredients to reduce irritation. Its described as a ‘potent treatment’ that should only be used every other night. This is a decent 15ml sample, the full size being 50ml and costing €70 *gulp* so I’m looking forward to giving it a go (and secretly hoping I don’t love it cos there’s no way I’ll shell out €70 on skincare!!)
So there you have it, the highly anticipated (by me at least!) July French Edition Glossybox. Overall, I’m pretty pleased. I adore the design of the box, and will definitely use everything included in it. I do feel a little bit let down by the lack of full-sized items, and lets face it, the bag counting as one of the five items is a bit of a rip off, but otherwise, its a definite thumbs up from me.
