Wow, July has just flown by! It feels like only yesterday that I sat writing my June Favourites and now here we are embarking upon the August Bank Holiday weekend, and yet not a ray of sunshine has hit Ireland at all. Yup, the most miserable July ever, which will more than likely turn into the worst & wettest summer ever, has passed us by in a flurry of rain and cold nights similar to November in other parts of the world. Still, we’ll find some good points from the month eh? On to the favourites!
Starting with beauty, not a whole lot of new discoveries here, but these 3 have been my favourite products to use this month. First up, well it needs no introduction, is the Original Beauty Blender. Man, I have fallen head over heels in love with this sponge this month. Seriously, its crazy how one little pink sponge can change the way you apply foundation forever. I won’t bang on about it, because I already wrote a rave review on this bad boy. You can read it here.
Next is something that I fell in love with somewhat by surprise. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen me post about this already. The Face D 3-Luronics Anti Dark Circles Eye Cream, came in a Glossybox way back in February, and was swiftly flung into my skin care overflow drawer without so much as a second glance. Then a few weeks ago when I ran out of my Balance Me Eye Cream, I pulled this little tube out, not expecting much at all. Oh how I was blown away. Seriously, this stuff really hydrates the under eye area, which is fantastic, but its real skill is masking dark circles. Now I have horrendous dark under eye bags, I just can’t get rid of them. People in work are constantly telling me ‘oh you look so tired’ and it can really get me down. But when I first patted the tiniest dab of this eye cream on, then looked in the mirror, I couldn’t get over how it had literally masked my undereye circles in such a natural looking way. It’s a bright white paste that absorbs really quickly into the skin, and don’t ask me how it does it, but it conceals darkness and brightens my undereyes perfectly. I don’t wear makeup to work so popping some of this on gives me the little confidence boost I need to feel like I look a bit more fresh and less tired. My only problem is that I don’t know where I can buy this in Ireland. If anyone has seen it in stores, please let me know in the comments!
Finally, sticking with the theme of my horrendous undereye dark circles, is the LA Girl Pro Conceal. I mentioned this in my US Drugstore Haul a while ago, and when I finally got around to using it, it was true love. This is the only undereye concealer I’ve tried that doesn’t crease on me. And I’ve tried a lot of concealers. It just works so well at hiding dark circles, and looks so smooth and natural. The fact that it doesn’t go cakey or settle into fine lines is enough for me to award Holy Grail status to this product, I now feel that the search has ended and I’ve found The One. The only problem? It’s not available in Ireland. I’m already running low so cue
me booking a flight to the US to stock up me doing a lot of online searching to find out which sites sell this! Again, if you know, tell me in the comments!
Last Saturday night, I attended the best concert of my life. Ed Sheeran played in my hometown of Dublin, in Croke Park to 80,000 people. Yes one man and his guitar took to the stage and it was seriously the most impressive show I’ve ever seen. He belted out all of his biggest hits, chatted with the crowd (seriously, he’s just such a lovely guy) and brought on Irish artists Kodaline & Glen Hansard to sing some Irish songs which was just amazing. One of the guys from Kodaline also proposed to his girlfriend on stage in front of the massive crowd which was such a lovely moment that brought a tear to my eye. If you get the opportunity to see Ed Sheeran live, no matter where the venue is, go and see him, he is such a fantastic performer!
Finally as I’ve mentioned time and time again, I’m a massive Disney fanatic. So on a very rainy day this month, with a very bad hangover, I decided it was time to rediscover Toy Story, and watch all three movies. The Toy Story trilogy are definitely my favourite films from Disney Pixar, I just love everything from the storylines to the characters to the music. As a kid I always believed that my toys came to life when I was asleep, so I really love how Andy’s toys go on such crazy adventures when he’s not around. From watching all 3 movies its great to see how Pixar animations have improved from the first movie to the third, and how the relationships between the characters develop. My favourite film is the third one, the scene where they’re going down into the incinerator at the rubbish dump literally made me cry in the cinema. Woody has got to be my favourite character, his love for Andy is unrivalled, and the way he is so passionate about helping his friends is what I love most about him. Another thing I love about Toy Story is the music by Randy Newman, seriously the song ‘We Belong Together’ makes me smile every time I hear it. I’m so excited to hear they’re making a Toy Story 4, it will be really interesting to see how the toys are getting on living with Bonnie now. If like me, you’re a huge Disney fan, then you need to read my post on How To Get Free Disney DVD & Blu Rays.
So that’s all my favourites for this month! What have you been loving lately? Let me know in the comments below!
