If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know I have a special kind of love for Soap & Glory products. I’ve tried so much of their skincare, bodycare and makeup ranges, and have rarely been disappointed by any of their products. So, you can already guess what way this review is going to go… Yup, it’s a rave review.
I first discovered the Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks a couple of years ago, while perusing the Soap & Glory makeup stand looking for something new. It was in the height of the lip crayon boom, when they first exploded onto the market and every high street brand was bringing out their own offering. I chose the shade fuscia-ristic at the time, which despite the name, is not a bright pink but rather is a beautiful coral/orange/red hybrid, which I’ve worn to death, and I already have a backup ready.
My favourite thing about these gloss sticks is how they feel moisturising on the lips, almost like some kind of lip balm/lip gloss hybrid. It gives a beautiful wash of colour to the lips, without any of the stickiness associated with your average lip gloss. They feel so smooth to apply, and are the kind of product I often apply without a mirror, the application is that easy. They last a pretty long time on the lips, and have a subtle vanilla scent which I love. They twist up from the bottom, so no need for a sharpener! I like the sleek black tube, my only gripe is that the writing rubs off fairly easily, as you can see from the photos. Also, like all other Soap & Glory products, you have to love their tongue in cheek product names… The Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks are priced at €11, and available from Boots, and as we all know, they always do 3 for 2 promotions, so hold out for an offer and stock up!
(Swatches Left to Right- Raplumzel, Nudist, Bashful, Fuschia-ristic)
On the Boots website, it states that there are only 3 shades, so I’m not sure if one I’ve picked up may have been limited edition, or if the website needs to be updated, but I’d definitely love to see more shades added to the collection, perhaps a nice peach colour. If you love glossy lips with some nice colour, but hate stickiness, then these will be right up your street, and are perfect for a natural makeup look, or even on no makeup days, for a slight pop of colour.
