I live for payday, then it comes and I splash the cash, and am almost poverty-stricken within a few short days! I tried to keep things in check this month, with holidays and so many events on my agenda until September’s payslip arrives, but of course I had to treat myself to a few bits and pieces. Shall we take a look at what I got?
First stop, Penneys! I’ve had people ask me on Instagram ‘What is Penneys?’ and basically its just the Irish name for Primark. So you may find some of the items that I post about in Primark if you are in the UK.
Firstly, I noticed all their autumn/winter stock is coming in, and I thought this scarf was fabulous. It’s an absolutely huge tartan scarf that’s made from lovely soft material, not scratchy at all. It’s almost like a blanket! I can’t wait to wear this with my coat on winter days. It was €6. Then, as you’ll have seen before, I always pick up vest tops, as I like to wear them under jumpers or shirts, and this white one was reduced to €1.
Next up, I spotted this cute white t-shirt and I just couldn’t leave it behind. It has short sleeves and a print in black that says ‘My Favourite F Word is Friday’ which I just love! It is a really nice long length top that will be great to wear with black leggings or jeans. The best part was, it only cost €5! Happy Days.
Next I hit the homewares department, which is one of my favourite areas in Penneys, I always find such nice affordable items there. Firstly, anyone who knows me, will know that I love fleece blankets. Seriously, in Summer or Winter, I’ll always have a cosy blanket draped around me on the couch, and I have been known to walk around the house wrapped in one. So when I saw this extra-large throw I had to have it. It was €16, but on offer for €12.90, so I couldn’t pass up on such a good deal. Seriously, it is HUGE! Its big enough to cover my double bed, and its so beautifully soft! I love the dusty pink colour, so I can’t wait to wrap myself up in it on the couch in front of the fire on a cold evening!
Then I spotted these cute little pillowcases, and popped them straight into my basket without a second thought! You can never have enough pillow cases (especially if like me, you often go to bed with mascara still on and wake up with black marks all over your pillow, whoops!) I just loved the little slogans on these and thought they’d be cute on my bed. The set of 2 was only €5.
As you’ll have seen in my birthday haul post, I am obsessed with candles. I’d seen these Earl Grey tealight holders on Instagram, so I went hunting for them, and picked up two. I love tea so much, so I’m mad about the design on them, I’m also trying to add more white and copper style accessories to my living room, and I thought these would look really nice on my mantlepiece. Then I also picked up this Salted Caramel jar candle, it smells really nice and I just love the jar it comes in, I think it’ll match in well with the others, and even when the candle is all used up, I plan on popping a tea light into it and still using it as a holder. These were all €3 each.
Sticking with the theme of candles, I’d also spotted these beautiful tea light holders on Instagram, and had to have them! They fit in with the copper theme that I’m aiming for, and although they’re pretty basic, I really like them. These were €5 each which I actually thought was a bit pricey, but I loved them so I had to buy 2!
So next I popped into Dunnes Stores, and spotted this gorgeous rose gold photo frame. It was available in 3 sizes, and I chose the middle size which is 5 x 7. I think it will go really well with all the candle holders that I bought for my living room as it will match in with the copper style theme. This cost €12. Then while in the queue, I saw this cute little turquoise tealight holder, with the slogan Don’t Worry Be Happy. It’s from the same range as the candles my sister bought me for my birthday, and I plan on popping it on the shelf in my beauty room with them.
If you read my July Favourites, you’ll have seen me talking about the Face D 3 Luronics Anti Dark Circles Eye Cream. I originally got a little sample tube of this in my February Glossybox and once I tried it, I knew I needed to buy the full size. I had a coupon for €5 off when you spend €20 in Lloyds pharmacy, so I picked this up for €17.95 instead of €22.95. I’ll do a full review of this soon.
Next, I stopped in Superdrug, to pick up some essentials, and got 2 of the Batiste Dry Shampoo for Medium & Brunette Hair. These were half price at around €2.30 each, and then I got a little compressed Vaseline deodorant for my trip to Spain as it is a good travel friendly size.
The last item I picked up was this Tanya Burr Cosmetics lip gloss in the shade ‘I Found Nemo’ which I’ve wanted for ages! Tanya has recently relaunched her cosmetics range, repackaging it, and adding some new items to it. I love the glosses, and I really prefer this packaging to the old style. I can see myself picking up some more of the new shades and definitely want to pick up the nail polish in a gorgeous new blue shade called ‘Duvet Day’. You can read my previous review on Tanya Burr Cosmetics here.
So, it may look like a lot, but I think I was pretty restrained on this pay-day shopping trip! Have you been shopping lately? Let me know what you picked up in the comments below!
I am currently away in Spain on holiday for a week, so it may take me a while to respond to comments as my internet access will be limited 🙂
