It’s such a blogger cliché but oh my god, I am candle obsessed. I go through an insane amount of candles each month, and always have one or two burning each evening. I first discovered Yankee Candles about 8 years ago when I was a student, and Vanilla Cupcake was the first one that I purchased and fell in love with. Now, all these years later, I must be on my 15th jar, so I thought it was about time that I declared my love in a blog post!
If you like sweet scents, then you will adore this. To me, this is the perfect cupcake fragrance, its a beautifully strong, buttery, vanilla scent that really smells as if you have baked a fresh batch of cupcakes! If I light this candle in my kitchen, the fragrance makes its way around the whole downstairs of my house, filling the air with a gorgeous sweet aroma. However, I don’t find the scent overpowering, its just a delicious, mouth wateringly sweet fragrance that is perfect for all burning year around. It’s the perfect candle to light after you’ve been cooking, as it will eliminate any strong odours that may be lingering in the home (casserole…I’m looking at you!) and when I have guests over and I have this candle burning, people always compliment it and want to know what the fragrance is!
Now, I know Yankee Candles are expensive, you’re talking €27.99 for a large jar like this one, but I do think it’s good value for money. A large jar will last up to 150 hours of burn time, so you will have it for quite some time, particularly if you keep trimming the wick, and avoid tunneling by letting the whole top layer of the candle wax turn to liquid before extinguishing it (as it allows the wax to set back evenly) so the candle will last a lot longer. My favourite place to buy Yankee Candles is Home Store and More, as they often have great offers on, and each month they have ‘fragrance of the month’ where they sell the large jars for only €17, so when Vanilla Cupcake is on offer, I tend to stock up!
So there you have it, my all time favourite scented candle! What kind of candles do you like? Are there any other fragrances that you would recommend for me? Let me know in the comments below!
