I first fell in love with Benefit Cosmetics about 7 years ago, when I purchased Posie Tint and High Beam in the quest to achieve the perfect blush and highlight. To this day, I still love those products and have explored a lot more from the range. I love the packaging that Benefit use, its always so fun and quirky! So when I was recently on the hunt for a new primer, I stumbled across The Porefessional, a primer that promises to minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines, along with increasing the longevity of makeup, so based on those claims, I had to pick it up!
How cute is the packaging? I love the whole ‘Spy Gal’ theme! The product is housed in a squeezy tube, which is great for ease of application. After moisturising, I apply a pea sized amount to my entire face, concentrating mainly on my cheeks where I have some visible pores, and my chin where I have a lot of redness. I gently pat it into the skin, as sometimes I find when rubbing it in, the formula can sort of ‘ball up’ on the face. When applied, it feels somewhat hydrating, and my skin feels silky smooth. It feels really lightweight on the skin, it definitely doesn’t feel like an extra layer of product has been slapped on! I then apply my foundation on top, and The Porefessional creates the perfect smooth surface for my base. Seriously, I have rather noticeable pores on the cheeks, and this primer helps to disguise them by filling them in, so my makeup looks more flawless and natural.
I also felt that the flesh-coloured formula toned down the redness on my chin, so even without foundation, the primer creates a finish on the skin, that lightly conceals redness and imperfections. Another advantage was that my makeup stayed oil free and matte for longer than without any primer, so I was really pleased that this helped keep the shine at bay! Although it is probably loaded with silicones, the formula of this primer didn’t break me out at all.
Now, this is a rather pricey product at €34 for a 22ml tube, but in my opinion it is definitely worth it. You only need a teeny amount with each use, so this will last for several months of daily use. For the smooth, flawless base that it creates, I think it is well worth the spend!
