I’m a complete foundation junkie. Because I’ve been blessed with not so perfect, rather spotty red blemished shiny skin, I’m constantly on the hunt for the best base to give me that super flawless look. Well ladies, I think I’ve found it….
Now many of you will have heard of Double Wear before now, its one of the bestselling foundations on the market. Once I tried it, it was easy to understand the hype that surrounds it. Firstly, I love the packaging, its a heavy glass bottle with a gold lid, and it feels expensive in your hand. Which it is, as its €38 for a 30ml bottle, so its on the spendy side of the spectrum for sure. The only downside to the packaging is that it doesn’t come with a pump, so you have to pour the product out onto your hand, which is a tad annoying. I was expecting it to be a thick liquid that I’d have to trowel onto my skin, but I was pleasantly surprised at the thin consistency of the foundation and how easily it applied to my face. My favourite way to apply this is with my Beauty Blender, as it gives the most natural effect, while still providing great full coverage. It doesn’t look cakey or heavy at all, and it feels light on the skin, but it does provide such a perfectly flawless finish. Seriously, it conceals blemishes, redness and other skin concerns in an instant, leaving you with a beautifully smooth base. It does have a matte finish, but I just add some subtle highlight to my skin and it gives a great natural glowing effect. If I feel it looks a tad powdery, I just use a facial spritz or mist and it adds some moisture and dewiness back to the skin!
The best thing about this foundation is that it lives up to its ‘Stay in Place’ name. Seriously, this stuff just goes and goes. I’ve worn it for 12+ hours, and its looked as good at the end of the day as the moment I applied it. So if you’re looking for a long lasting full coverage finish, this is the foundation for you. The only slight downside is that it does transfer quite easily, so watch out for this when hugging your friend who is wearing a gorgeous white shirt (I learned this the hard way when I saw a rather large smudge on her shoulder…oops!) and it does have SPF10 so it probably isn’t the best for use with flash photography. Another thing I have to mention is that when you wear this you need to properly cleanse your skin. Once when wearing it I took the lazy route and used wipes to cleanse my skin, well I may as well have used the whole packet and it still didn’t get it all off. This is the type of stuff that you’ll want to do a good double cleanse with a decent face wash, just to make sure every last trace is removed, as it seriously just hangs on in there!
So if you’re looking for a full coverage flawless base, you could do a lot worse than trying out the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. If you pop to a counter the ladies will even give you a little sample to try out before committing to the full bottle, which is brilliant. But I reckon once you try it, you’ll be hooked!
