Fleur De Force is one of my favourite bloggers. I’ve been reading her blog and following her YouTube channel for years, I love her warm personality, and she has a great sense of style, so last year when she released a book, I immediately went out and bought it!
The Glam Guide is ‘more than just a beauty manual’ and is 224 pages filled with tips and advice on hair, makeup, health and relationships making for a great read. I love the cover, its such a gorgeous design!
I really enjoyed reading the beauty section, it has tons of great tips for beginners but also lots of advice for those of us who are established makeup junkies too! She also includes great skincare advice, and a section on DIY face masks to suit different skin concerns. One of my favourite sections is all about ingredients in products, where Fleur explains all about ingredients such as silicone, parabens etc included in cosmetics, and whether or not you should be avoiding them. She also has included a great hair care section, with quick and easy to follow tips on different styles, along with advice on colouring, growing out your hair and some DIY hair mask ideas.
Fleur’s fashion section is all about finding your own individual style, working with what makes you feel comfortable and confident. I like how she talks about finding what works for you, not copying someone else’s style. She includes loads of tips on finding perfect shoes, how to care for your handbags and advice for shopping in the sales, all of which were really interesting and useful to read!
She also includes a lot of other lifestyle topics like health and fitness, including some really tasty recipes like the juices in the photo above. She also touches on travel tips, and some mental health topics like self confidence, positive thinking and relationship advice. If you’re interested, there is also a small section about YouTube & blogging too!
This is such a great easy read for anyone who loves all things beauty and lifestyle. It differs from other YouTuber’s books like Tanya’s and Louise’s as it doesn’t have the personal viewpoint like theirs, this is definitely less about Fleur herself, it is more of a lifestyle guide, which I really liked. Although its not a personal book, you can definitely feel a sense of Fleur’s personality through her writing, I could almost her her voice in my head as I was reading! It is definitely more age appropriate for me at 27 than some of the others, but equally I think younger girls will enjoy reading it too. It is filled with some really beautiful illustrations and photographs (I especially loved the photos of her gorgeous dogs!) and it is laid out in a way that is so easy to read.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If you enjoy Fleur’s blog and YouTube channel, then I think you will love reading this. It would make a really good gift for a sister or friend too, and its definitely one of those books that you can pick up time and time again and flick through for some tips or inspiration!
