I adore candles, you’ll know that by now. One of my favourite gifts to give and to receive, for me nothing beats a gorgeous scented candle. Last Christmas, I was lucky enough to receive a Max Benjamin candle and boy was I thrilled! I’d never had a candle from this brand before, so I couldn’t wait to test it out.
Max Benjamin is an Irish company founded by two brothers and each candle is designed and hand-made in County Wicklow, Ireland. They use a blend of 100% pure natural waxes and lead free Italian cotton wicks. The finest essential oils are added to produce their unique blend of fragrances. So if you’re looking for a natural wax, paraffin free candle, Max Benjamin are the ones for you!
For me, this candles ticks all the right boxes. Firstly, the design is so simple yet classy, they look super high end. Secondly, the scent is gorgeous. I love citrus scents, so the Grapefruit and Pomelo fragrance is right up my street. It’s perfect for springtime use in the home, as it is a gorgeously light and fresh fragrance. At first, I thought there wasn’t much of a scent from this, but I had to light it a couple of times before the fragrance really intensified. It’s not one of those overwhelmingly strong scented candles like some others that I’ve tried, in fact its just a nice light fragrance that gently wafts around the home. It also burns really cleanly, the wax has melted really evenly, and even when I haven’t remembered to trim the wick, I haven’t noticed any black marks on the jar, which is great! I’ve also been burning this for ages, and still haven’t hit the halfway mark, so you will get a lot of use from these candles for sure.
These candles are priced around the €22 mark, and are available from a whole host of Irish stockists such as Arnotts, Kilkenny Shop, Brown Thomas and Meadows & Byrne to name but a few. I have my eye on trying out some of their Reed Diffusers and Bath & Body products next, so keep your eyes peeled!
