Birchbox UK April 2016 ‘Blooming Marvellous’

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know I’m a long time subscriber of Glossybox, but Birchbox has been a new discovery for me. They launched to the Irish market in February, so this is the third box I’ve received. After a somewhat shaky start, things have definitely improved, and this month’s edition was a great one! Let’s take a look at the contents shall we?

This month Birchbox have collaborated with Rifle Paper Co to produce this gorgeous floral design box. You had the option to add on some Rifle Paper notebooks for an extra few pounds, but as I already have an abundance of stationery, I decided not to include those. This month I received 5 products, a variety of makeup, haircare, skincare and bodycare items. Some of the brands are familiar to me, others new. All pretty great items!

I squealed when I saw this in my box! I knew from the sneak peek that we would be receiving a Benefit product in the box, and was hoping I’d get this one, as I’ve already tried all the Benefit mascaras. This is the recently launched Dew The Hoola by Benefit Cosmetics, which is basically a liquid version of the brands Hoola bronzer (which I LOVE.) I’m really excited to try this out, although I’m not entirely sure what way to apply it, but I’ll do my research online and report back! This is a decent sized mini tube, which should have a good few uses in it.

The second makeup item was the Cynthia Rowley Beauty eyeliner in black. This is a Birchbox exclusive, and looks really good. I’ve only swatched it on my hand, but its a really pigmented dark black, that feels easy to apply, and is nice and creamy. I’m hoping it will be long lasting when worn on the waterline, as I’m struggling to find a decent black liner for that at the moment! I also love the black and gold spotty design. I’m not sure if this is a full sized item, but it appears to be, and its a great addition!

The next addition was from another brand I’m familiar with, Balance Me and their Tinted Wonder Eye Cream. Now, I suffer from dreadful dark circles under my eyes, so this sounds like it will be right up my street. Its a light cream formula, slightly yellow tinted, which should cancel out my blueish tinged under eye bags nicely. This is a great sized sample as you only need a teeny amount with each use, so it should give me a good idea if this works well for me.

Now, onto haircare, I received the Parlor by Jeff Chastain Detangling Leave In Condtioner. I seem to get a hair product every month in Birchbox, and this one seems like it will be perfect for me. It’s a spray on formula that promises to detangle, and deliver soft, sleek shine to hair, with the added benefit of heat protection. I have dreadfully tangled straggly ends, so here’s hoping that this can perform a miracle for my troubled tresses!

Finally, another brand I’m familiar with, Kueshi; with their Foot Care Cream. I’ve received Kueshi products in a couple of Glossyboxes, and have really liked them. This foot cream has come along at the perfect time, as I need to get my tootsies ship shape for sandal season. This stuff smells divine, it has a gorgeous herbal tea tree scent, and its a really light lotion that absorbs into skin so quickly. Could it rival my beloved Soap & Glory Heel Genius? Well, only time will tell, so stay tuned for the verdict!

They also very kindly included a voucher for 25% off your next order at Rifle Paper Co for every Birchbox subscriber which is great!Β

I really enjoyed this month’s Birchbox. I was so pleased with all the contents, I feel like Birchbox really take each individual’s beauty profile into account, unlike Glossybox who often send out the randomest mix of products (like a one shade suits all brow product…seriously?) I cannot wait to try each and every item I received, and I’ll definitely keep my box to display, as its just so pretty! The only slight gripe is, the delivery time to Ireland is still pretty slow, mine was dispatched on Wednesday last, and arrived to me a full week later, whereas my Glossybox was dispatched on Friday, and arrived on Tuesday. So it would be nice to see Birchbox step things up a gear with delivery speeds, as UK customers seem to get theirs a lot quicker than Irish subscribers, meaning a lot of hard work to avoid spoilers!

I get you when it comes to the eyeliner struggle haha. Did you find the eyeliner really hard to take off? I suppose that’s a good thing! X
