Hi guys! It’s not very often that I write about anything too personal on here (apart from in-depth details about my spots, scabs and ingrown hairs eh?) but I thought I’d just do a little life update on what’s been going on with myself recently.
Basically, I’m currently off work on sick leave, due to being involved in an accident while in work last week. Without going into too much detail, part of my job involves travelling on a minibus with the young people who I care for, and unfortunately our bus was involved in a road traffic accident. It was very frightening and upsetting at the time, but luckily, nobody was seriously hurt. As a result I am off work due to injury, which isn’t great, but every cloud has a silver lining, and I hope to fit in a bit more blogging than usual during my time off. Hopefully the meds don’t affect my typing too much (although reading my Valium induced ramblings could be a bit of fun anyway, eh?)
So as I’m beginning to feel a lot better now, I thought I would share some of the lovely gifts that my family and friends have surprised me with over the past week. I’m really lucky to have a great bunch of pals, along with a fantastic family and rather brilliant boyfriend who’ve all been so wonderful at taking care of me and kept me laughing throughout all the pain and tiredness. Along with the beautiful flowers pictured above, I’ve been delivered some lovely homemade scones and a variety of other baked goodies from my friends, which of course were demolished before they could be photographed!
Firstly, my lovely little sister picked me up these cute Disney socks from Topshop along with the message telling me ‘you can wear these when you can finally reach your toes again’ 🙂 She knows I’m a massive fan of Belle and Cinderella, so these were a great gift.
When I arrived home from hospital, there was a little envelope on my doormat, and inside was this cute little key ring from a friend of mine who picked it up on a recent visit to Disneyland Paris. We have a little private joke about jigsaws, and she knows how much I love Mickey Mouse, so she chose this little keyring for me as she knew I’d love it. It really made me smile, and now has pride of place on my car keys along with my other Disney keyring that I picked up in Paris last year.
Next up, my auntie picked me up this really cute Looney Tunes top in Penneys (Primark), it’s a great long length tshirt with dropped armholes, which will be really nice over a bikini with shorts on holidays. She knows exactly how much of a big kid I am, so this was the perfect pressie for me!
Next up, my group of friends all clubbed together to provide the most amazing hamper of goodies for me. They were all really worried when they heard about the accident, so they wanted to treat me to some of my favourite things once they knew that I was on the mend. Included in this little personalised basket are a bunch of my favourite goodies (including some delicious homemade brownies!) all of which I’ve been munching my way through each day since I got them!
Next up, they also got me these gorgeous pyjama tops from the Disney Store! I love the Tinkerbell tee, I’ve been wearing it around the house and its made from such soft material and is so comfy. The little Mickey & Minnie vest is adorable too, I love how it’s in the style of the Tsum Tsums, as I don’t own any Tsum Tsum merchandise at all yet, so this is a welcome addition to my Disney collection!
They also picked me up these really cute Mickey Mouse pyjamas from Primark, I love the neon vest top, and the bottoms are kind of cropped, they’re perfect for summer, and so comfy. I love them!
Also in Primark they picked me up this great Mickey vest PJ top, which is my favourite of them all, I love the Walt Disney quote on it ‘Laughter is timeless, Imagination has no age, Dreams are forever’ as it’s just so lovely, and then to match they chose a pair of cute PJ bottoms, if you look closely they’re Lion King themed with little Simba outlines on them, and how cute are the little cuffed ends with the pom poms on them? I’m basically living in these at the moment!
The girls know how much I love skin care, so they popped in some face masks so I can pamper myself while I’m stuck at home, and this little 3 pack of Disney knickers or ‘Minnie Ninnie’s’ as I personally like to call them! How cute are they? I’ll always love my cartoon pants no matter how old I get!
This may seem like a moment of oversharing, but these were popped in the hamper as a joke present. I won’t go into too much detail, but I was texting the group whatsapp from the hospital with the tales of how mortified I was to have male nurses assisting me to erm get to grips with a bedpan, and the whole ‘I wasn’t even wearing decent pants’ thing had them all in stitches laughing at me. So as a little piss take they got me some ‘sexy’ knickers. Where in god’s name they found a Minnie Mouse thong I will never know, but it kept me laughing for a long time afterwards!
Finally, my absolute favourite item, and the gift I was most surprised and overwhelmed by is this beautiful blouse from Oasis. Seriously, the photos don’t do it justice, it’s a gorgeous soft and slouchy fit, and I adore the anchor design and the gold buttons. I almost cried when I took it out of the wrapping, as its so pretty and exactly my style. While I was in hospital the nurses had to cut me out of my blouse that I was wearing that day as I was strapped to a spinal board in a head brace (it sounds far more dramatic than it really was) but I was really upset as it was one of my favourite blouses, and I was telling the girls this, so they kindly went out and got me a far nicer replacement! I cannot wait to wear this!!
So there you have it, a rather large haul of some gorgeous gifts! If you weren’t aware that I’m actually a 28-year-old woman, you’d be forgiven for mistaking that most of those gifts were for a 9-year-old Disney fanatic 😉 This whole ordeal has just made me realise how incredibly lucky I am, not only to have such a wonderful group of friends and family, but also how important your health is, and how lucky I was to come away from an accident without any major injuries or ailments.
Anyway, to put a more positive spin on this rather downcast and slightly mushy post, I’m hoping to fill my time with typing up some more blog posts during my days off, so if there’s anything you’d like to see on Just My Look, please leave me some suggestions in the comments below!
Thanks for reading 🙂
