Well ladies, it’s that time again- Glossybox time! You’ll have noticed my recent Glossybox reviews have not been all that positive, but with 4 full-sized items in this month’s edition, could things be improving again? Keep on reading to find out…
The first item was one that we knew we’d be receiving, a Sleek Makeup eye & cheek palette in the ‘A Midsummer’s Dream’ version. Subscribers were given a choice between 4 different palettes, and I chose this one as I thought it contained different colours than any I already have in my collection. Although this is a full-sized item, it is a dinky little palette, with 2 powder blushers and 4 shadow shades. I find Sleek blushers are always great quality, and at first swatch they seem pretty pigmented. The lighter eyeshadow shades have swatched a little bit patchy, but the darker shades seem pretty decent. I have yet to try these properly, but I’ll report back if they’re any good. The sturdy black packaging and decent sized mirror should make this good for travel. The only bad thing I’ve heard about these is that they’re supposedly on sale in Poundland (or Dealz as we know it in Ireland) for £1/€1.49, and not the RRP of €12 they say on the information leaflet here. So it’s not as valuable as it seems, and it must be discontinued stock. But its a grand little addition nonetheless.
Next up is another full-sized item, the iWhite Instant Teeth Whitening Toothpaste. I’ve seen a lot of hype about this online from beauty influencers, so I’m delighted to be finally getting to try it out. This claims to target surface and deep tooth staining, strengthening and whitening the teeth. Who doesn’t want a hollywood smile, eh? The RRP of this is €9.50, so it’s on the pricier side of things for whitening toothpaste, I’m really looking forward to trialling it out.
Another full-sized item, this time it’s skin care related, with the Oolution Eye Love eye cream. This is a 100% natural formula, which promises to hydrate, diminish dark circles and reduce puffiness. I’ve only briefly tested it and it feels lovely and light, and absorbed quickly. It’s hard to get excited about an eye cream, but this 15ml tube is worth a whopping €35, so it’s a pretty good addition to this month’s line up.
The fourth full-sized item was hair care related, the Got2B Playful Styling Primer. To be honest, I’m not sure exactly what use I’ll get from this, and I can see it sitting on my bathroom shelf unused for a while. But I do think it sounds like a decent product for those who wear their hair curly or wavy most of the time. The idea is that you work it into damp or dry hair and then style for perfectly controlled and shiny locks. It promises to be perfect for wavy, curly or plaited locks. I’ll give it a go at some stage soon and let you know how I find it! This is valued at €5.
Finally, the only deluxe sample sized item is from This Works with their In Transit Camera Close Up. Now, I’ve had a sample of this before (I think it came free with a magazine) and I really loved it. It’s basically a hero product that can be used as a super hydrating mask, a moisturiser and a makeup primer. I really liked using it as a moisturiser/makeup primer as it gave a really nice feel to skin prior to applying foundation, and kept my makeup in place pretty well. This is a decent sample size at 20ml, so this is a great addition.
So, that’s the lot! After a few months where I was less than impressed, this was a fairly decent offering. I loved the mixture of different products, and I will most likely get use from all of them. Whether or not I’ll continue my subscription is a bit up in the air for me right now, as I have a ton of beauty products in my stash, and with the prospects of becoming a homeowner on the horizon, I could do with wasting less money on unnecessary purchases, and save the cash for the mortgage instead.
